Great Speeches Introduction

About 'Great Speeches'

This collection comprises 68 of the most significant and best known speeches of the 20th century, spanning the years 1908 to 1991. Each speech has been edited to include the most memorable and noteworthy segments. Click here to view the full list.

The collection includes a variety of speakers in the political, historical, inspirational and topical categories. You will find here the most famous pronouncements of Winston Churchill, several American Presidents, a number of astronauts, Adolf Hitler, the young Princess Elizabeth, Nikita Khrushchev, Martin Luther King and many others.

The \'Great Speeches\' collection was created for use as background material for research, teaching and topic work in schools and colleges, or simply for information and reference for those with a personal interest in memorable or historically important events.

We hold the complete 4-CD set of Great Speeches, which cover the full spectrum of: The Political Arena; The Changing World; Dreams and Inspirations; Great Accomplishments; and The Best of Times, the Worst of Times. A total of 68 speeches in all.

All of these are accessible to you and those you teach, through WSLR. We also recommend that you check through the ‘Great Moments’ collection, listed separately, for relevant complementary material on your chosen topic.

How to access ‘Great Speeches’

We cannot lend you our original CDs but, upon request, we will gladly supply a professional quality copy, in your preferred format, of the part(s) you wish to use. This copy will be yours to keep.

First, click here to go to the listings, and make a note of the numbers and titles of suitable items.

Go to ‘View Your Basket’ from the WSLR home page and use the message box to send us an email, via ‘Checkout’, detailing your selection and describing briefly how you plan to use the recordings.

Then, at your convenience, call us to discuss your exact needs more fully. The WSLR A-V team will then be able to produce a high quality cassette tape or CD with your choice of recordings, specifically tailored to your requirements.

All recordings supplied in this way are held copyright free by WSLR, and are supplied at no charge to WSLR member schools for use in accordance with the conditions set out in the next paragraph.

Important - please note: under the terms of our ERA recording licence, your cassette tape or CD may only be used at your school in connection with teaching, research, or for your project or production, and must not be copied, altered, or loaned to or used by any third party.
