Supporting Teaching and Learning through Quality and Value
Books Service - Introduction and Information
1: The Loan Service
Our loan service provides a wide range of carefully selected, up-to-date books, principally in the following types of collections:
Super Sixes - over 800 titles of fiction, non-fiction, poetry books and playscripts, in sets of six copies. To assist teachers, all Super Sixes are assigned a readability level using the Individualised Reading Scheme. Multiple sets of six are available for most titles.
Fiction collections - boxes of 20+ fiction and poetry books, arranged as:
general collections, carefully selected for use in specific school years.
themed collections, eg "Humour" or "Science Fiction" or selected for a specific group, such as reluctant older readers.
author collections, covering the work of a single author.
Topic book collections - typically, boxes of 15 to 20 non-fiction books covering all aspects of a selected topic. We offer around 170 different collections to support programmes of study at Key Stages 1 and 2 across most areas of the curriculum, including Modern Foreign Languages (French, Spanish, German) plus dual-language picture books in a range of other languages.
Other options - If none of the above suits your needs, our staff can create bespoke selections for you, or you can come in and choose books yourself. Here, in addition to the items above, we also have Big Books and a selection of story tapes and audio-books.
