1: Introduction and information

Our Audio-Visual collections comprise "the other dimension" in teaching and learning; carefully selected, professionally presented A-V materials with a range of uses from quick illustration or amplification of a topic, to a complete lesson - and much, much more besides. WSLR is proud to offer, through A-V Resources, a facility which we believe is unmatched in any other county resources service.

Under our Educational Recording Agency licence, WSLR's professional Edit Suite provides top quality recordings covering all main curriculum areas across Key Stages 1 to 4, reproduced from original material including broadcasts from the BBC, Channel 4 and many others. We add new items to our collections all the time, and our catalogue currently includes details of:

More than 6,500 individual educational programmes

2,000+ feature films (with direct links to the Internet Movie Database)

Around 200 music CD titles - various genres, for enjoyment and for learning

An ever-expanding stock of pre-recorded DVDs and interactive CD-Roms

Access to 250+ fascinating historic sound recordings, plus the full BBC sound effects library

PLUS over 2,000 educational video clips, accessible on line directly from this website by all teachers in subscribing schools, for display on classroom PCs and whiteboards

We produce fresh copies of all educational programmes to order. This means that even if several schools request a particular title, we will meet every order. Our entire educational programme collection is now available, and normally supplied, on DVD. But if you really must have a video tape please indicate your preference in the message box on the 'View Basket' page, immediately before you go to 'Checkout'.

NB: copies of some items such as Music CDs, pre-recorded DVDs and CD-Roms, are available in limited numbers and cannot be copied. If your first choice is unavailable we will try our best to provide a suitable alternative.

Deadline Dates

Details of delivery and collection dates and closing dates for receipt of requests can be found on the Dates and Deadlines page.

If you miss a deadline, please send in your request nonetheless. We cannot guarantee to supply all late requests but we do occasionally have extra copies on the shelves and if we receive your request before your school's scheduled delivery date we will send any titles we have available. Items requested later can, if available, be collected from our Trowbridge base or can be despatched by arrangement at an additional charge.

Audio Visual Advice Services

The A-V studio and staff also offer an extensive range of facilities and services, both practical and advisory, to support school audio-visual projects and productions, and to help maintain, protect and, when necessary, repair your own a-v collections.

DVD and CD production and duplication services, for customer-authored material, secure destruction facilities for sensitive disks etc, and a limited range of a-v loan equipment are also available.
